Wedding Anniversary Weekend

Well, I was thoroughly spoilt for our first wedding anniversary- a perfect weekend away in the Peak District. Oh, and these beautiful stacking rings, from my favourite jewellery designer Mustard & Peaches.

 

Mr H and I have never had a weekend away where either one or both of us hasn't fallen ill. It's become a bit of an unwelcome tradition really.

This time round, it was my turn... But it didn't spoil our fun and we returned home feeling rested, relaxed and full of delicious food.

Today, the 20th of April, is our first wedding anniversary.

It's also Easter Sunday. But this year, Easter has taken a bit of a back seat.

Last week, all four days of it, were spent in anticipation of the long weekend. Mr H and I desperately needed a break. 

This photo pretty much sums up our wedding day- full of fun and smiles, sneaking off for a cheeky kiss, oh and a filthy wedding dress to show for it all!

Baldwin Wedding

As an ex-Baldwin, there are some genetic traits that will stick with me, no matter what my name may be.
Baldwins are notorious for always being late to the party. But also being the last to leave. We love good food, good wine (I'm working on that one!) and a good laugh. We're very laid back, practically horizontal, but we hate early mornings.

We're also a 'spontaneous', and quite frankly disorganised, bunch so it's pretty rare that we all manage to get together in one place, at the same time.

However, last Thursday, we all gathered to celebrate the marriage of Emma and my uncle Mark.
The wedding was held in my favourite place in the world- the city of Bath.
Our day began with a leisurely walk to Waitrose to buy the thank-you presents for the speeches (I did say we were disorganised!)
The ceremony was truly beautiful and everyone was glowing with happiness.
The reception followed and we celebrated long into the nigh. And, as you might expect, we were the last to leave.

On Thursday, we welcomed the beautiful Emma into the Baldwin clan.

She looked absolutely stunning and it was a wonderfully relaxed day.

(Oh, and my uncle Mark scrubbed up pretty well too!)

Shop Love :: Mustard & Peaches

I first met Mairi, of Mustard & Peaches, at New Designers in 2012. I was immediately struck by her passion for her craft (and her sweet Scottish accent!)
That amount of glittering jewellery in one small space was pretty overwhelming but Mairi's work seemed to yell out at me, even though her pieces were by far the most understated. Her simple display allowed her collection of beautifully delicate, yet oddly shaped, rings to really stand out. I fell in love instantly.

We kept in touch over the following months because, like me, Mairi had just graduated from university and was finding her feet in the big wide world.
One of her business ideas was to invite couples, to her cosy house tucked away in the Northern Irish countryside, to make their own wedding rings. And in February, Steve and I were invited to be the guinea pigs! (Read about our amazing adventure here)

Since then, Mairi and her husband Adam have moved to a lovely London suburb. And at the weekend, we paid her a little visit in her adorable new studio.

Honestly, I cannot speak highly enough of Mairi. The newly launched range is absolutely stunning but if you're looking for something bespoke, Mustard and Peaches is truly perfect.

Wedding ring number two.

Well, it was only a matter of time before Mr H 'misplaced' his wedding ring. To be honest, I was quite surprised it lasted as long as it did! But the inevitable happened a few weeks ago, on the way to a wedding reception (yes, ironic I know!)
So it Mairi to the rescue! We very nicely asked if she could make a replacement ring for Mr H and she didn't let us down.

3 month-iversary

Last Saturday, Mr H and I celebrated our 3 month-iversary. Yep, it's been 3 whole months since we tied the knot.
We still talk about our wedding all the time and we always say the same thing- it was the most perfect day we could have ever wished for.
If we had written a list to the wedding fairy (cos she exists right?), we would've asked for a sunny spring day (but not too hot), for all our loved ones to share the day with us and for there to be lots of laughter and smiling faces. Oh and also for a sneaky moment alone to take it all in and be ourselves for 5 minutes. And that is exactly what we got.

To celebrate, we ate the best fish & chips in town, cuddled up on our new sofa and watched rubbish on the TV. What could possibly beat that?

Wedding round-up: The soppy bits!

Ok, well I've shared the fun bits... Now it's time for the soppy stuff. 

I think we scrub up pretty well!

My new brother-in-law was not impressed with the amount of kissing shots (c'mon it was our wedding day!) so I've spared you most of them, but it wouldn't be right without a few now would it... 

If someone were to ask me, "What was your favourite bit?"... It would, without a doubt, be this- these precious few moments we had alone together, with the sun shining on our faces. I never been happier than I was right at this exact moment.

Again, a massive thank you to Simon, the Gloucester Photographer, for making us feel so at ease & for making us look pretty damn fine!

Wedding wall

Well we've finally got round to hanging our wedding photos- better late than never ey?
The planning of this wall became part of the wedding plans! We had a really clear vision of what we wanted and, armed with my dodgy spirit level & even dodgier maths, I think we nailed it (literally!)

The top print was a wedding pressie from my amazing uni friends & in case you were wondering, it's the coordinates of our wedding venue. How cool is that!
It's by The Drifting Bear Co. & their website is definitely worth a look- they sell some absolutely stunning prints (I'm already shopping for the next one)

Wedding round-up: The best bits...

Woohoo, I’ve been literally dying to tell you about the wedding & now I can!

I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderfully perfect our wedding day was.
The sun shone, the string quartet serenaded & a few tears were shed (happy ones of course!)
Our guests played giant jenga in the garden, had lots of laughs in the photobooth, scoffed the pick'n'mix until they felt sick then danced the night away & we didn’t stop smiling the entire day.
If I only had one word to sum up the day: FUN

They say a picture speaks a thousand words... So I'm pretty sure these photos speak volumes. We cannot thank our amazing photographer, Simon Young aka Gloucester Photographer, enough for all that he did for us. He even became a friend. 

My lovely father-in-law is also very talented behind a camera, so a big thank you to him too!
